A maze of houses falling from the mountains, a single street runs across the city then only stairs. Head on the Sirenusae islands, land of the Syrenes, loved by Tiberius, bought by Nurejev and De Filippo, now propriety of Sorrento businessmen.

Don't forget to visit the church of S. Maria Assunta, with the majolica-tiled cupola. On the major altar hangs the Byzantine icon of the black Madonna: according to legend, the pirates tried unsuccessfully to steal it, but they were stopped by a sudden storm. The Virgin herself told the thieves "Posa Posa!", to "put her down" onto the beach. The fishermen built the church in that place and all around the city. Here comes the name "Positano".
