In 1748 Charles I of Bourbon decided to open the official excavations to bring back to light the city buried by the 79 AC Vesuvio eruption. This priceless heritage gained UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

Thanks to its frescoes, mosaics, mansions, thermal baths, theaters and temples, Pompeii allow visitors to understand and live the most important aspects of the Roman society and culture.
